Mentality

Being Stronger than your Obstruction

Our brain controls us. Simple. It controls our actions, reactions, behaviour and moods, it's pretty much the control board to our body. The most difficult thing in the world is knowing how to control it. How do you learn to control what control's you... "Cosmic". Mental toughness; what I think is one of the most complicated things in the world, is very hard to talk about and explain. I'm nowhere near being able to master it but I'm learning.

Mental toughness is being able to override the thoughts and feelings of negativity and pain, and using intellect to control what you're doing and somewhat see yourself through to the end. What's commonly mistaken is that people think ignoring or avoiding those feeling is what it means to be tough, and we always see it in gyms where people use music and earphones, to see them through workouts. Realistically this isn't a cure for boredom or giving you the motivation to finish strong, this is what your mind uses as an obstruction to thinking negative thoughts, or basically avoidance. Realistically, that won't help.

Too many people; in my opinion, walk away from these battles and don't commit to certain things they find tough, purely because they accept the reasoning of negativity - that they're not built for something. Genetics are usually blamed, intellect on occasion. But in life, what's worth doing won't come easy, you have to see things through and make sure you're set to achieve your goals no matter what comes your way.
We're faced with too many obstructions these days. Time constraints, family commitments, socialising... but realistically speaking - there are 24 hours in a day. A full 24 hours. If you can't find time - you're not looking hard enough.
We're facing too many variables - the weather, distances, sudden arrangements, yet we work our lives around them, and not our commitments. It's bordering laziness. It's not your doing, it's learning to be mentally tough enough to just go out there and face the rain on a horrible day, and do what you're meant to do because you're committed to yourself.

There's a potential in every person to walk out of their doors every morning and become their dream that day. There's a million and one obstructions and variables waiting to stop you from getting there, but the only reason they're there is to make the reward for achieving your dream so much sweeter. The amount of times I find myself on a gym floor struggling to breathe, failing a lift feeling it's too heavy - or being told to out right **** OFF during work, aren't worth counting because they're a daily occurrence. Our minds settle with the present because it's simple, it's already achieved, but the thought of further challenge, further dedication, commitment, and hard work isn't fun for what's present.

Greatness is in all of us. It rescues success from the depths of fatigues. It can be covered it up like clouds in the sky, it can be bought like medicine. When you're mind screams at it's highest voice, begging you to stop, relax, rest, and breathe - it's time to search deeper, find the hidden "dark" corner in the realms un-searched. Find that voice whispering "More... More... More..."

In being able to find your strength at your weakest point, you will be able to conquer mental toughness.
